Angelica Essential Oil

Angelica oil (Angelica archangelica) has soothing qualities that help relax nerves and muscles. In Germany, angelica was historically referred to as the “oil of angels,” in part because of its ability to calm anxiety, restore happy memories, and bring peaceful sleep. Traditional medicine practitioners used angelica as a stimulant, digestive tonic, and expectorant.

Essential Oils for Snoring

Attention all you partners of snorers:
Here are some oils that have worked well for some in reducing or stopping snoring. Now these may not work for everyone but it sure is worth trying don’t you think?

Here are two solutions gathered from testimonials I have received recently:

“Valor on the feet at bedtime has usually done the trick to stop my husband’s snoring and apnea.

If I was snoring, I’d be using a drop of RC oil under my nose, and a drop of Thyme oil under my big toes. These are the 2 regimes that I’ve heard the most positive results from with snorers.”

Valor is a beautiful blend that contains oils of Spruce (Picea mariana), rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora), blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum) and frankincense (Boswellia carteri) in a base of almond oil

RC is perfect for sinus pain, allergies and anything impacting your breathing. This blends contains Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, myrtus communis oil, pinus sylvestris (pine) leaf oil, origanum majorana (marjoram) leaf oil, eucalyptus radiata leaf oil, eucalyptus citriodora leaf oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, cupressus sempervirens oil, tsuga canadensis leaf oil, and mentha piperita (peppermint) oil.

Thyme is a “hot” oil and should be diluted with a couple drops of vegetable oil before being applied to the skin. If ever you experience any burning rinse the essential oil with vegetable oil, never use water as this will only help spread the oil.

Enjoy and let me know if any of these tips have helped you!

This gentle fragrance is specifically designed for diffusing. It promotes relaxation and a deep sense of peace, helping to dampen tensions and uplift spirits. When massaged on the bottom of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night’s rest. It may calm overactive and hard-to-manage children. The oils in this blend have historically been used to help reduce depression, anxiety, stress, and insomnia. This blend along with Mineral Essence may be a healthy alternative to Ritalin.

Mary E. Hoose submitted the following tip:
“I have a work associate who was getting married and was very nervous. I gave her a bottle of Peace and Calming® and she used it for about three months to keep herself calm. The big day arrived and she even put Peace and Calming on a cotton ball and placed it in the center of her bouquet. Every time she felt nervous she would smell her bouquet. Thanks to Peace and Calming, the day went very smoothly.”

Blue Tansy (Tanacetum annuum) may help cleanse the liver and calm the lymphatic system, helping one to overcome anger and negative emotions promoting a feeling of self-control. It contains sesquiterpenes that can stimulate the pineal gland, which secretes the hormone melatonin, a hormone that enhances deep sleep.

Patchouly (Pogostemon cablin) was used in India in ancient times as a trade commodity because of its earthy, musty fragrance and its ability to mask many different odors. Its fragrance reestablishes equilibrium while simultaneously quieting emotion and energizing the mind.

Tangerine (Citrus nobilis) contains esters and aldehydes that are sedating and calming, helping with anxiety and nervousness.

Orange (Citrus aurantium) was believed to bring joy, peace, and happiness to those who possessed it. It is elevating to the mind and body.

Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) helps bring about a sense of relaxation and may help balance male and female energies. It balances equilibrium and inspires confidence and self-love.

If you know someone who needs to get some sleep, this message was created with them in mind. Please feel free to share this information with someone you know who might benefit by using an all-natural, more holistic approach to a better night’s sleep.

“A friend suggested that I try using the essential oil of valerian for sleep, so I decided to do a little research; the National Institutes of Health has a website devoted to Valerian for Insomnia and Sleep Disorders.: http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Valerian.asp. I was amazed how much clinical investigation there was on the properties of this oil. What I read about valerian was that it was very highly regarded as an all-natural sedative. What I learned about valerian from using it was that it is calming, relaxing, balancing, and a sleep aid. Just an aside, Valerian Root is generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for ingestion by the FDA. I would make sure the oil you use is therapeutic grade. ” John Rosenberger, Moses Lake , Washington

It is estimated that Americans spend $14 Billion dollars, every year, on our Sleep Disorders!

  • Try some oils tonight before you go to sleep. You may be pleasantly surprised!

“I use Essential Oil of Cedarwood on my feet before I go to bed and sleep like a baby! It stimulates the pineal gland which releases natural Melatonin. I feel this is also good for the brain since Cedarwood is high in sesquiterpenes [brain food]. I have also used Alkalime and Lavender for sleep….love it.” – Jackie K., Hemphill , Texas

“I put my daughter to sleep every night with a story and a kiss. Recently, I have added some reflexology techniques and the rubbing of Peace and Calming essential oils to the bottom of her feet, and some in her palms to smell deeply. The two of us become so relaxed and sleepy that we had to change our nightly ritual to stories first and oils last. She sleeps so soundly her blankets stay perfectly neat until she wakes up in the morning. Wonderful!” Stacy Allen

Suggested Oils for Sleep:

  • Valor
  • Lavender
  • Dream Catcher (For Nightmares)
  • Peace & Calming

Cedarwood Essential Oil

CEDARWOOD (Cedrus Atlantica)

Inhaling the oils of cedarwood increases the ability to think clearly and enhances the awareness needed for effective prayer and meditation. This is because of all the essential oils of the world, Cedarwood contains the highest concentration of sesquiterpenes, which have the ability to pass through the blood-brain barrier and oxygenate the brain directly upon inhalation by way of the nasal passages and the olfactory nerves. It has been suggested that cedarwood oil might prevent senility and Alzheimer’s disease.

Perhaps this is why the palaces of King David and King Solomon were built of cedar. King Solomon contracted King Hiram to supply all the materials needed (The Cedars of Lebanon) in return for wheat and fine oils for every year as long as it took to complete the temple. Unfortunately, the cedars of Lebanon were nearly forested to extinction and today only small patches exist in the far regions.

Key Chemistry: Cedarwood contains 98% sesquiterpenes which deprogram misinformation written in the DNA due to trauma, abuse, loss and ancestral and limiting beliefs. Sesquiterpenes are considered the antidepressant in this valuable aspect. Cedarwood may also be useful as a general cerebral stimulant.
It may be diffused or applied topically as desired.

Fragrant Influence: Stimulates the limbic region of the brain (the center of emotions) and the pineal gland, which releases melatonin. Terry Friedmann, MD found in clinical tests that this oil was able to successfully treat ADD and ADHD (attention deficit disord ers) in children. It is recognized for its calming, purifying properties.

Medical Properties: Combats hair loss (alopecia areata), antibacterial, lymphatic stimulant.

USES: Hair loss, arteriosclerosis, ADHD, skin problems (acne, eczema)

Application: (1) Apply on location, (2) massage on feet, (3) directly inhale, (4) diffuse

Two great testimonials for Cedarwood:

….And speaking of Cedarwood. I have a nasty cold and sore throat. A couple Sundays ago I woke up with a hacking cough and my wife told me to put Cedarwood on my throat & chest. I did, and it helped immensely.

At night I place a drop or two of Cedarwood on my forehead and temples then dab the rest under my nose or perhaps on the outer rims of my ears. I fall asleep much more easily, perhaps because Cedarwood is known to stimulate melatonin, the “sleep hormone.”

* Use only the BEST therapeutic grade essential oils. EO’s from bath shops and natural foods stores are often perfume grade and thus may not yield therapeutic results. Perfume grade oils have been rendered toxic by the distillation method, fillers, chemical extractants, etc. and may cause adverse reactions.
